Teaching Areas
Professor Goldberg has taught a variety of courses in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels, as well as a doctoral course in Research Design.
Research Areas
Much of Dr. Goldberg's research focuses on diversity and discrimination. Within this stream, her research focuses on how similarity to others (supervisors, workgroup members, recruiters, subordinates) affects work related outcomes (attitudes, performance ratings, hiring, and leadership assessments) and how stereotypes about different groups affect discrimination toward them in organizations.
Caren has also done a great deal of research on sexual harassment. This stream of research has focused on the factors that lead people to perceive ambiguous situations as harassment and that lead people to engage in different responses to harassment. She has also conducted a ground-breaking study on the effect of sexual harassment training on responses to sexual harassment.
The Society for Human Resource Management recently honored Dr. Goldberg as one of 100 diversity thought leaders from business, consulting, government, and academia, based on her research contributions in this area.
Publications
Professor Goldberg has published nineteen articles in scholarly journals including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Resource Management, Psychology of Women Quarterly, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Sex Roles, and Group and Organization Management. She has also written three book chapters, edited a text book, and presented her research at over 30 conferences.
