Teaching Areas
Professor Elms teaches international business strategy courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her research focuses on corporate and stakeholder responsibility in the global context, including the role of professionals in those responsibilities. She emphasizes the relationship between corporate and stakeholder responsibilities, and has investigated that relationship both regionally (e.g., in Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia, the emerging markets in which she specializes) and in various industries (e.g., health care, private security contracting).

Professor Elms has published her work in leading outlets including Academy of Management Review, Business Ethics Quarterly, and Strategic Management Journal.

Additional Experiences
Professor Elms has extensive international experience, including several years as a management consultant with Ernst & Young, Budapest, Hungary (during the early years of privatization there) and several additional years as the Founding Director of the Center for the Social Foundations of Business at the Central European University Business School, Budapest, Hungary. At Central European University Business School, she also taught courses in international business strategy, business ethics, and corporate governance. She has worked with multiple international companies and organizations, including Tesco, Vodaphone, Alcan, Nypro, the Budapest Stock Exchange (where she served on the Corporate Governance Board), the Hungarian National Savings Bank, the American Chamber of Commerce (from whom she received an "Outstanding Service" award), the World Bank, the World Economic Forum, the United Nations, and USAID. She is also on the Editorial Boards of both Business & Society and International Journal of Emerging Markets.
